The Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation, (Stiftelsen Dag Hammarskjölds Minnesfond), is a non-governmental organisation established in 1962 in memory of the second Secretary-General of the United Nations which aims to advance dialogue and policy for sustainable development and peace. The Foundation is an autonomous, non-grant-giving institution and is unaffiliated with any political, religious or ideological groups. Its work is guided by respect for and alignment to the principles outlined in the UN Charter. The Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees. The work of the Foundation is carried out by a permanent Secretariat based in Uppsala. The work of the Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation is anchored in its statutes and guided by a Strategic Framework with four thematic areas to focus its engagement. <b>Description </b>
The Programme Manager’s will work on the Foundation’s core programmatic activities as laid out in the Strategic Framework 2018-20 and Annual Work Programmes. The position will focus on the formulation, implementation and follow-up work related to the following issues:
<ul>
<li>Multilateralism and international norms and governance, including trends and future of multilateralism and the normative role of the UN.</li>
<li>Repositioning of the UN system, with a focus on the form and functions of the UN operative system, management and leadership (i.e. ethics, integrity, transparency and accountability) and financing of the UN development system.</li>
<li>Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including targeted awareness-raising and tracking of SDG implementation, including governance and civil service reform</li>
</ul>
<b>Responsibilities and Tasks</b>
<ul>
Responsibilities include:
<li>Implementing the Foundation’s Strategic Framework through development and coordination of activities and projects on Multilateralism, Renewal and repositioning of the UN system, and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with a specific focus on the UN’s normative role, its management and financing, including governance and civil service reform in relation to Agenda 2030.</li>
<li>Programme management and coordination, including planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and learning of the assigned projects and activities.</li>
<li>Organising and facilitating seminars and meetings in relation to assigned projects(s).</li>
<li>Authoring and editing of material (articles, policy papers, reports) related to the assigned projects(s)</li>
<li>Ensure program operations and activities adhere to policies and guidelines of the Foundation.</li>
<li>Participate and represent the Foundation in official meetings.</li>
<li>Coordination and support of projects and activities across all programmes of the Foundation.</li>
<li>Participation in team-work on strategy, policy, monitoring and evaluation of the Foundation’s activities.</li>
</ul>
<b>Qualifications</b>
<ul>
<li>Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. international relations, political science, global studies), or similar qualifications otherwise acquired. </li>
<li>Minimum of six years work experience relevant to the mandate of the position.</li>
<li>Experince from applying UN human rights norms and principles, including a human rights based approach.</li>
<li>Field experience from multilateral and bilateral development cooperation is a merit. </li>
<li>Professional experience in programme administration, implementation and support from working with UN system processes, Agenda 2030 and development cooperation.</li>
<li>Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Proficiency in Swedish is desired. </li>
<li>Ability to maintain professionalism, creativity, and enthusiasm while working in a fast-paced international environment with limited supervision.</li>
<li>Detail-oriented and ability to take initiative to develop activities and programmatic work.</li>
<li>Open-minded, good team player, flexible, and understanding the work of a value-based organisation.</li>
</ul>
The position is for a temporary two-year contract with a six-month probation period and salary will be determined based on an individual basis. The Foundation provides generous leave, wellness and pension benefits.

<b>Reporting and Relations:</b>
<li>The Programme Manager will report to a Programme Director.</li>
<li>Internal: Support to staff engaged in programmatic work. Collaboration takes place mostly within project teams, but the Project Assistant will also work closely with communications teams and administrative staff.</li>
<li>External: Collaboration with partners as relevant to programmatic work.</li>

<b>Terms of employment</b>
<li>Temporary 2-year position with 6 months probation.</li>
<li>The Foundation offers generous holidays benefits. Employees up to 29 years of age are allocated 28 days of leave, from 30 years 31 days and from 40 years 35 days.</li>
